On a golden evening that mirrored the beauty of the African landscape, the St Charles College Class of 2025 gathered for an unforgettable celebration of their Matric Dance. With the theme “African Sunset”, the event captured not only the breathtaking beauty of our continent but also the warmth, elegance, and spirit of the Matriculants as they stepped into the next chapter of their lives. Our Matrics were dressed in style in their finest suits and made a grand entrance on Harwin road with an amazing range of vehicles.
The venue was transformed into a scene depicting the African sunset at dusk, with rich tones of orange, gold and deep red, setting the tone. The use of elephant tusks in both the centrepieces and as an architectural feature surrounding the dance floor was a memorable choice. Silhouettes of acacia trees, aloes, rhinos, orange candles, and soft, yellow lighting, created a magical ambiance. For a Matric dance, which marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, the tusks were an apt metaphor for their journey toward adulthood: monumental, powerful, and undeniably impactful. The boys and their partners were blown away by the extraordinary decor.
Our Head Boy and his beautiful date opened the dance floor in style, followed by the equally stylish deputies. The evening’s success was largely due to the tireless efforts of the Matric Dance Committee – a group of dedicated young men who worked diligently to create a magical evening for the class of 2025. A heartfelt thank you to the Matric Dance Committee for their incredible work in making the night unforgettable. As the stars rose over the African sky, the night ended, but the memories made under that symbolic sunset will last a lifetime. – Mrs Charlotte Pillay (Matric Dance Coordinator)
