Pinnacle College Rynfield athletes do their school proud

After a two year absence due to the pandemic, Pinnacle College Rynfield hosted in conjunction with St. Francis, an inter-high school athletics meeting which saw seven Independent schools from Benoni and the surrounding areas, compete for a place in the Greater Benoni area team and bragging rights, took place on Monday the 7th of February at Germiston City Stadium.

For many of the athletes it was the first opportunity to put their two plus years of training into action and the atmosphere was electric to say the least. With great excitement, the event hosted for the first time, a new age group which allowed for even more athletes to take part in the competition. The under 16 age group was allowed to compete in all track and field events which had previously be excluded from the event due to political issues. Although being an unofficial group, the under 16’s from the competing schools demonstrated the highest qualities of sportsmanship and were the embodiment of the competitive spirit which the event strives to stands for. It is with great pride that should the points from this group be included, Pinnacle College Rynfield took a very significant win of the overall event. This serves as a testament to the shear dedication of both the coaching staff and athletes alike, who believe that each and every athlete should have the opportunity to compete.

The Pinnacle College Rynfield athletics team was able to bring home thirty-four Gold, eighteen Silver and twenty-two Bronze medals. Congratulations to each and every one of the athletes who took part in the event. We would like to wish those invited to the Greater Benoni competition taking place later in the month the very best.
