Penryn Scholars venturing beyond the classroom

Nolizwi Mlangeni made her school and the province proud, being the only player in the Lowveld to be selected and made her debut with the team when they played a test series against Namibia and won all three games.
Nolizwi a Grade 11 Penryn scholar first picked up a hockey stick when she was in grade one at Penryn and the rest is history.
Her 1st hockey girls coach and head of hockey also shared how proud he, and the whole of Penryn was of Nolizwi.
“She is an extraordinary hockey player and athlete, having represented Mpumalanga not only in hockey but also netball and tennis in recent years.”
“Noli is a player that continuously challenges one’s thinking and practice methods. It is a real honour and privilege to coach her. Watching her sing the National Anthem and playing for our country brought tears to our eyes,” Mr. Jacques du Toit said.
Stephen Taylor, represented and captained the U18 B Mpumalanga hockey team during the U18 Boys National tournament in Stellenbosh. He also represented the U18 Pumas Platteland team at their national week in Reitz in the Freestate.
He played his final Hockey match at Stellenbosh High on the 1st of July at 12:00 and flew back in time for his first rugby match at 09:45 in Reits on the 2nd of July.
Stephen was named the best player in his position, #4 lock, for the tournament. This led to him being included in the touring team consisting of the best players in each position from the various provinces that will tour Ireland in December this year.
