Harvest Festival New Horizon College (NHC) held its annual Harvest Festival on 26 July. The learners brought non-perishable food, cleaning products and clothing to school to support vulnerable and less-fortunate members of the Bethlehem community. This is in celebration of the late Mr Nelson Mandela’s birthday and his call to do something good for others. This year Bambelela Development Centre in Bakenpark and Bethlehem Pathways were the recipients of the learners’ donations. Representatives from both organisations were present during the Harvest Festival event held in the school hall on the NHC premises just outside of Bethlehem.

The two organisations had the opportunity to tell learners about their much-needed support to vulnerable community members. As in previous years, learners participated enthusiastically through their donations. Attendees of the event were also treated to a beautiful performance by the NHC choir. New Horizon College would like to thank learners and their families who opened their hearts to donate goods. The success of the event was a direct result of the parents’ generosity and goodwill towards those who will benefit from the selfless support provided by our Harvest Festival recipients. We wish these organisations well in the year ahead and feel privileged to be part of the work they do in serving the community of Bethlehem. Mr P Pekeshe, Marlien Godoy, Miguel Godoy, Happiness, Joanne Lukas, Joyce Mhlongo, Lyda van Vuuren, Lisa Mashinini, Paulina Nhlapo and Rosy Monareng
