75 athletes from Monument Primary School took part in the KZNCSSA Athletics Championships held at the Msunduzi Stadium in Pietermaritzburg. It was a well organized event with great results.

The athletes that qualified will be included in the KZN team to take part in the SACSSA athletics championships held at Msunduzi Stadium.

The medal count for Monument athletes over the two days were, 57 medals; 17 Gold medals, 20 silver medals and 20 bronze medals.

Records were broken by:

• Enhle Zimu – High jump 2nd
• Siyamdumisa Msibi – Long jump 2nd
• Lunele Ndaba – 60m 2nd

New records were set by:

• Mackenzie Hartshorne – 60m 1st place
• Sisikelo Maisela – 80m and Cricketball 1st place
• Luné Coetsee – Discus and Shotput 1st place

The Junior 6 to 9 years Victor Lodorum was awarded to Sisikelo Maisela and the Junior 10 to 13 years Victrix Lodorum was awarded to Luné Coetsee.

Our athletes in the top 30 list for highest points for a single event were, girls:

• 2nd Luné Coetsee – Shotput 912 points
• 11th Xolo Madonsela – Turbo Javelin 822 points
• 12th Enhle Zimu – High jump 820 points

Boys: 2nd Luhan Senekal -Turbo Javelin 875 points

• 3rd Sisikelo Maisela – Cricket ball 857 points
• 6th Daniel Cilliers -TurboJavelin 840 points
• 8th Zanru Biddulph – TurboJavelin 935 points
• 19th Nhlosenhle Madide – Highjump 800 points
