From the outset, the team displayed composure and determination. Despite the demanding weather conditions, the players maintained a high work rate and demonstrated disciplined, structured and skilled hockey throughout the tournament.

The team progressed to the semi-final, where they faced defending champions and six-time winners of the tournament, St Dominics, in a highly competitive match. The teams were level at the final whistle, and the outcome was determined by an 8–second penalty shootout. Volksrust maintained their composure to secure a 1–0 victory.
In the final against Sarel Cilliers High School (Glencoe), the team once again demonstrated resilience and determination. Following a draw at full-time, the winner was decided by means of an 8–second penalty shootout. After a second round of penalties, Volksrust secured the victory and concluded the tournament as champions.

The team consistently delivered hockey of a high standard, characterised by speed, technical ability, teamwork and discipline. Their performance under challenging conditions reflects strong leadership, perseverance and commitment.During the prize-giving event, our umpires, Nhlakanipho Gwebu, Keegan Jacobs and Nico Nel, each received a trophy for outstanding umpiring. Imraan Badat received the award for the best u/19 goalkeeper and the coaches, Mr and Mrs le Roux, were honoured with the “High Five” accolade for most supportive (and calm) coaches during the tournament. Congratulations to the First Team on an outstanding achievement. You have represented Volksrust High School with pride.
