The Glenwood House School 1st Golf Team produced an outstanding performance at the Regional Finals held at The Fancourt Links Experience Golf Course, winning by 11 shots to qualify for the National Finals in Umhlali, KZN.
After trailing Bramble and Outeniqua during the season, the team came together when it mattered most, with excellent golf from all four players. Dewan de Bruin stormed home with an incredible eagle on the final hole, while Peter Venter topped the leaderboard with an impressive even par round in wet and windy conditions.
Our 2nd Team also enjoyed a very successful tournament, finishing 2nd in the 2nd Division. Wian Stassen recorded the lowest score in the division with a superb 2 over par.
Recently, Dewan finished 2nd in the U19 SA Boys Strokeplay in East London. He also placed 2nd at the All Africa Team Championships in Kenya, where he captained the South African team to a remarkable 35-shot victory.
Devon Smith, one of our 2nd team players, recently achieved a spectacular hole-in-one on the 6th hole, at George Golf Club. Playing a 140m downwind shot with a pitching wedge, the ball landed about 3 meters from the hole, took one big bounce, and dropped straight into the cup for an incredible one-bounce ace. Congratulations to all our players on an exceptional season!
