We are incredibly proud of Northwood School’s Christian Johnston, who recently represented South Africa at the Junior African Championships (JAC).

• Competing in the U20 Sabre as a 15-year-old, Christian delivered an outstanding performance against some of the continent’s top fencers. He fenced brilliantly in his poule, earning his place in the direct elimination rounds.
• In a tightly contested DE match, the scores were level at 13–13 before his opponent edged ahead to take the bout 15–13 — a true display of determination and high-level competition.
• Christian ultimately finished 18th out of 25 competitors, achieving the best result for a South African in this event in over a decade.
