On Saturday, 6 September, four of our learners proudly represented Felixton College at the Empangeni Debating League’s inaugural speech competition, hosted at Birdswood Secondary School in Richards Bay. Lwandle Gumede (Grade 11), Nongcebo Mdletshe (Grade 11), Luyanda Ndawonde (Grade 11) and Adonika Ramsamy (Grade 8 each prepared and delivered fantastic speeches on the thought-provoking topic, “Are AI and technology making us smarter or lazier?”
We are especially proud of Luyanda, who progressed through to the finals where she impressed the judges with an inspiring impromptu speech on “Finding your voice: Speak up and stand out.” Luyanda walked away with top honours, winning the competition. The trophy was presented to her by Mr Mzwakhe Xulu, Chairperson of the Empangeni Debating League. Well done to all four of our pupils for their hard work and courage, you have all made Felixton College incredibly proud!
