De La Salle Holy Cross College High School kicked off the year with their Annual Interhouse Swimming Gala on Friday 13 January. St. Charles House (Blue), St. Benildus House (Green) and St. Francis House (Red) faced off in the water to compete for the gold cup. War cries of each House echoed all around the school, as they excitedly cheered their swimmers on. The anticipation of which House was going to take home the gold cup grew more and more after each race. In the end St. Francis House took home the gold, while St. Benildus and St. Charles House took home silver and bronze respectively.
The staff members also took part in the fun by challenging the pupils to a race of their own. We applaud the staff members who bravely swam against the pupils. The day concluded with the much anticipated matric pyjama race. The matrics donned pyjamas over their swimming costumes, swam to the middle of the pool from either side to exchange an item of clothing before rushing to complete the race. It was an enjoyable day for all and uplifting start to the school year.
