On 12 September 2025, Cannons Creek Independent Primary School swapped their normal white school socks for FUNKY SOCKS! The school raised over R2000 towards this national fundraising initiative that supports four incredible organisations: Breadline Africa, CHOC – Childhood Cancer Foundation, Rally to Read, and Matla a Bana – to empower vulnerable children, support young Cancer patients, promote literacy, and uplift early childhood infrastructure. The school also held its own fundraiser through the sale of socks, where the proceeds will go towards the purchasing of items for Hatch bags. Hatch is a Cape Town-based non-profit start-up that provides newborn ‘starter-packs’ (filled with around 15 newborn essentials) to new mothers in underprivileged communities.
Cannons Creek stepped up further for a good cause and collected over 540 odd socks (ie. 270 pairs). In partnership with The ODD SOCKS Project, these odd socks were matched up by the school’s Outreach Team and then handed over to be redistributed to homeless shelters and people in need.
