The annual Cableway Charity Challenge involves ascending Platteklip Gorge up to the upper cableway station on Table Mountain as many times as a participant can over a nine-day period to raise funds for those in dire need of educational support in Cape Town, as well as for a number of other non-profit organizations.
A school challenge was introduced this year and Rondebosch’s 5-man team was declared the outright winner, leading the other participating schools on number of laps completed – 28, as well as raising the most funds by a school – R41 000. The trophy was presented to the Rondebosch team this morning by Rick Briers-Danks, representative of the Cableway Charity Challenge.

Special mention is made of Robbie Scott (Grade 10) completed seven laps and raised R12 950. The other four Rondebosch runners were Bernard Lombaard (Grade 11), Liam Housdon (matric), Etienne Toerien (Grade 11) & Jack Hallett (matric).
