Camps Bay High School surfer Triumphs in Major Junior Surfing Competitions

Ben Esterhuyse, a Grade 8 student at Camps Bay High School, has recently showcased his surfing talent by securing significant victories in two major junior surfing competitions. Over the holidays, Ben dominated the O’Neill Smith Shapes Ballito Pro Junior at New Pier, Durban, winning both the U14 and U16 titles. He continued his impressive performance at the Rip Curl Gromsearch #4 at Dairy Beach, Durban, where he took first place in the U14 Boys division and finished fourth in the U16 Boys division.
Ms. Busi Ngcwama, Camps Bay High School’s Head of Sport, expressed her pride in Ben’s achievements: “Ben’s dedication and passion for surfing are truly inspiring. His success on the national stage is a testament to his hard work and determination. We are incredibly proud to have him represent Camps Bay High School and look forward to supporting him as he continues to excel in his surfing career.” Ben’s recent victories have further cemented his status in the South African Junior Surfing scene. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the U14 Boys category and No. 4 in the U16 Boys category on the SAST Junior Surfing Team.
