On Saturday 15 October 2022, Cambridge and Selborne hosted successful athletics meeting at Cambridge High School.  Nine school’s Selborne, Queens, Dale, Stirling, De Vos Malan, Grens, Gonubie, Clarendon and Cambridge, attended. Cambridge had a very successful day winning 26 Gold, 26 Silver and 28 Bronze medals on the day.

The following Cambridge athletes attained a top three placing:

  • Boys u19: Tristan Hoffman 1st LJ, HJ, 3rd 200m & Javelin, Emmanuel Limani 1st Discus, Siyahluma Nweba 2nd 200m & 400m, Lizalise Gam 3rd Discus.
  • Boys u17: Liyema Gxarisa 1st 3000m, Lisakhanya Magoxo 3rd 200m, Milani Bityo 3rd 800m, Liyabusiswa Mlakalaka 3rd 3000m.
  • Boys u15: Uzile Mojake 1st 800m & 3rd 400m, Sibabalwe Salman 2nd 200m & 400m, Joshua Adjei-Frimpong 3rd 100m & 200m.
  • Boys u14: Linathi Gunguluzi 1st 3000m & 2nd 1500m, Dashaan Velloo 2nd 400m & 800m, Musa Hewana 2nd 3000m, Karlton Chatindiara 2nd Discus, Onakho Jara 3rd SP, Caleb Nina 3rd 3000m.
  • Girls u19: Ovayo Amosi 1st Javelin, Discus & 2nd SP, Ahlumile Faniso 1st SP & 2nd Discus.
  • Girls u17: Kwakhokuhle Mayoyo 1st 1500m & 3000m, Tayla Ferreira 1st Discus & SP, Kelly Lewis-Enright 1st 800m & 2nd 400m, Charity Mtwana 1st 400m, Amahle Maseti 2nd 800m & 1500m, Sinetrhamba Mugerwa 3rd 1500m, Lathitha Dambuza 3rd SP.
  • Girls u15: Lonke Mvuza 1st 1500m, Nakane Duma 1st Discus, Iviwe Banda 2nd 100m & 200m, Iviwe Mzayifane 2nd Discus & 3rd SP, Kaelyn Smith 2nd SP, Omileyo Nompunga 3rd 200m.
  • Girls u14: Naledi Headbush 1st 100m & 200m, Grace Zwane 1st 1500m & 3000m, Sikho Nanto 1st 400m & 2nd 800m, Aqeelah Faltyn 1st SP & 2nd Discus, Busanda Jele 1st Discus & 3rd SP, Thabile Lupondo 1st 800m, Onika Nkosana 1st Javelin, Nwabisa Giqwa 2nd 100m & 200m, Hannah Garikayi 2nd 400m, Lisakhanya Didi 3rd 100m, Sitha Nanta 3rd Discus.

Cricket

  • Cambridge 1st XI vs. Queen’s College 1st XI (LO): Cambridge 131/10 (Unam Bolo 29no), Queen’s 133/2. Queen’s won by 8 wickets.
  • Cambridge 1st XI vs. Westering HS 1st XI (T20): Westering 148/8 (unam Bolo 3/26, Kamvelihle Kelembe 2/29), Cambridge 82/6. Westering won by 66 runs.
  • Cambridge 1st XI vs. Victoria Park HS 1st XI (Declaration): Cambridge 164/10 (Aqhama Mdlulwa 65no, Uzubenathi Kene 36), Victoria Park 198/10 (Kamvelihle Kelembe 4/32). Victoria Park won on the first innings.
  • Cambridge 1st XI vs. Nico Malan HS 1st XI (LO): Nico Malan 200/10 (Lethu Kwatsha 3/17, Anganathi Nyongo 3/41), Cambridge 177/7 (Alulutho Mdlulwa 51, Aqhama Mdlulwa 46). Nico Malan won by 23 runs.
  • Cambridge 2nd XI vs. Hudson Park HS 2nd XI (T20): Cambridge 86/9 (Aliziwe Sokoyi 31, Siphesihle Nodada 25), Hudson Park 90/2 (Sixolisiwe Qalinto 2/13). Hudson Park won by 8 wickets.
  • Cambridge u15A vs. Lilyfontein u15A (LO): Cambridge 146/10 (Sibabalwe Salman 41, Anganathi Nyongo 31), Lilyfontein 147/8 (Lwando Qwele 4/21). Lilyfontein won by 2 wickets.
  • Cambridge u14A vs. Queen’s College u14A (LO): Cambridge 85/10, Queen’s 86/5. Queen’s won by 5 wickets.
  • Cambridge u14A vs. Selborne College u14A (T20): Cambridge 54/6 (Alakhe Kewuti 21no), Selborne 56/0. Selborne won by 10 wickets.
  • Cambridge u14B vs. Selborne College u14C (T20): Selborne 139/4, Cambridge 38/4. Play suspended due to lightning – Selborne won on run rate.
