On Tuesday, 20 February, Ligbron Academy of Tegnology celebrated the achievements of its grade 12 teachers during the NSC final examination of 2023. The school has proven itself to be an academic force to be reckoned with.

Mr Gerhard Brand, principal, thanked the teachers for their hard work. He mentioned that Ligbron’s staff has a sense of unity and support for each other, which is a rare quality. He ascribed the school’s academic success to the effort each and every teacher makes to invest in the future of their learners. Excellent grade 12 results are not achieved in one year. It is the culmination of five years of dedication by committed teachers.

Ligbron has three teachers, Mrs Erika Brand, Lenie van Zyl and Elsa van Zyl who are the best in their subject in Mpumalanga, with seven more teachers who are the best in the Gert Sibande district.

The school presented each grade 12 teacher with a certificate and a small gift as tokens of appreciation. Afterwards they were spoiled to a scrumptious dinner.

Mr Jan Bosman is the best Mechanical Technology (fitting and turning) teacher in Gert Sibande.

Mr Gerhard Prinsloo is the best Information Technology teacher in Gert Sibande.

Mr Christiaan van Greunen is the best Electrical Technology (digital) teacher in Gert Sibande.

Mrs Frankie Nell is the best Technical Mathematics teacher in Gert Sibande

Mrs Erika Brand is the best Geography teacher in both Gert Sibande as well as the whole of Mpumalanga.

Mrss Lenie van Zyl and Elsa van Zyl are the best Mathematics teachers in both Gert Sibande and Mpumalanga. It is also the 20th year that the school has a 100% pass rate in Mathematics.
