In the recent online Matific Math Olympiad, Wembley College learner Taleiya Naidoo achieved the remarkable distinction of being the top Grade 1 performer nationally.  As a token of recognition, she will receive a well-deserved reward of a R200 Takealot Voucher and an Oxford book prize.  This year in South Africa 179 primary schools participated in the Matific Math Olympiad which is sponsored by Standard Bank.  It is a fun online competition for children between the ages of 4-13 years of age. Many scholars from all over South Africa participate in the Matific Math Olympiad every year in September. 

Mrs van Zuydam the Head of the Wembley Junior School received this message from the South African Matific Math Olympiad representative, “I’m thrilled to share with you that your school has achieved an impressive 17th place out of 179 participating schools in this year’s Olympiad.  Considering, the Olympiad competition includes over 20 000 students, this accomplishment is truly remarkable, and it means that numerous students from your school have earned certificates.”
