South Africa commemorates National Book Week every first week of September. It is an initiative of the South African Book Development Council in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture.

At St Dominics Newcastle, we continually encourage our learners to value reading as something fun that can easily be fitted into their daily activities. This week the Service and Academic portfolios teamed up to gift the high school with their own Little Library in honour of National Book Week.

The Little Library is a ‘take a book, return a book’ free book exchange. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share and we encourage learners and parents to donate any suitable books to keep our Little Library operating.

Thank you to Mr Grossmark for building our little house and to Miss Venter for painting it for us.

The Little Library belongs to everyone! Let’s keep reading and sharing our favourite books with one another.
