St Charles College team win Debating League Finals

On Wednesday, the St Charles College Junior debating team went up against GHS in the Pietermaritzburg Debating League finals. The team made up of Timothy Schoeman, Raahil Ramklown and Zach Bormann emerged victorious, marking the College’s first league victory in memory. Raahil Ramklown was not only deemed the Best Speaker of the debate but was ranked 1st in the league after receiving an outstanding six best speaker awards throughout the season. Raahil won the Travis McCabe Award for his achievements.

Senior debater, Sebastian Ridge, ranked 7^th Best Speaker in the Senior League, was also acknowledged for his outstanding skills. This season has been challenging as the debaters have been without their coach, Mr McCabe, who passed away earlier this year. Despite hiccoughs along the way, the Juniors managed to prevail. Raahil Ramklown, Zahid Khan, Cian Jacobs and Sebastian Ridge were invited to the Provincial tournament held recently. Raahil has been selected for the KZN Provincial side and will attend the National selection tournament later this year.
