The culmination of every school year is the annual prize-giving ceremony where pupils are recognised for their achievements throughout the year. 2022 Has finally started to feel more like a “normal year” and the school was determined to acknowledge the special efforts of so many. St Benedict School is justifiably proud of all their primary school pupils who have worked so hard during the year. Many of these children were acknowledged with certificates and trophies, but every single child deserves a mention for trying their best and overcoming their own individual challenges.
In the Foundation Phase (Gr R-3), a few pupils in Grade 3 were recognised with special awards at the end of the phase. Cebisa Hlatshwayo was awarded the Glory of God Trophy which is given to a pupil with a sound knowledge of religious education, who contributes positively to the ethos of the school and follows a lifestyle which is reflective of their faith.
The Good Fellowship Award is voted for by the students themselves and was shared this year by Mvelo Dladla and Taaliah Jogie. This award is given to a person who shows kindness and compassion to their fellow pupils and is always friendly. Finally, The Principal’s Award was given to Taaliah Jogie. This award is given to someone who is involved in academic, sporting and cultural aspects of the school and always gives of their best.
In the Senior Primary Phase, Khye Mekoa was awarded the trophy for Dux for 2022. She also won the subject prizes for English, Afrikaans, Economic and Management Science, Technology, Life Orientation, Natural Science, Social Science and Mathematics.
