Balderstone Sports Institute Awards 2022: Our Golf Academy concluded another exceptional and positive year with many great results and personal milestones achieved, with our annual Awards Dinner at our home club Royal Johannesburg & Kensington GC on Friday 02 December 2022. Family and friends joined together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students.

Top 5 placings for the Junior Academy Order of Merit 2022:

Player of the Month
BSI College Player of the Month – Sean Paxton
Well done to Sean Paxton who was voted as BSI College Player of the Month for November.
- Sean won our Cycle 4 72-Hole Championship with scores of 70, 70, 66 & 70, to end 12-under after the four days on Royal Johannesburg & Kensington East Course.
- He won one weekly medal during the month.
- Sean’s Stroke Average for the month was a fantastic 69.
- Sean finished tied 27th at the Harry Oppenheimer Trophy at Maccauvlei GC
- He finished tied 49th at the Bobby Locke Invitational at Parkview GC.

BSI Junior Player of the Month – Grant Labuschagne
Well done to Grant Labuschagne who was voted as BSI Junior Player of the Month for November.
- Grant won:
- 2 BSI Junior Medals during the month
- The BSI Junior Academy Cycle 4 72-Hole Junior Championship with scores of 75, 72, 70 & 77 (+6).
- His Stroke Average for the month was 73,5.
- Grant won our BSI Matchplay Championship defeating David Harrold in the 36-Hole Final.
- He finished tied 2nd in the Central Gauteng Open played at Kyalami CC, with a score of 3-under.
- As the leading player from the Central Gauteng Golf Union, Grant was also awarded the Closed Division Trophy for being the number one placed golfer in the Union.
- Grant is now 75th in the Golf RSA Open Amateur rankings.

BSI Tournament Results: BSI Premier Academy Cycle 4 72-hole Medal Competition Well done to Sean Paxton on winning the BSI Premier Academy Cycle 4 72-hole medal (30 November – 2 December 2022), played at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington East GC. Sean took an unassailable lead from the 3rd round and he did not look back in the final round as he eventually won by a huge 11 shot margin. Sean posted rounds of 70, 70, 66 & 70, finishing 12-under. Well done Sean, it has been a long time in the coming of your C4 victory. Personal Bests: Viljoen Reinecke 68 (3rd Round)

BSI Junior Academy Cycle 4 72-hole Medal Competition. Congratulations to Grant Labuschagne on winning the BSI Junior Academy Cycle 4 72-hole medal (30 November – 2 December 2022), played at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington East GC. Grant went into the final round 1 shot behind the leader and took the win on the final hole with a birdie, to win by one stroke. This is Grant’s 2nd End of Cycle medal win in a row and culminates an exceptional year of golf and academic achievements. Congratulations Grant on the year that saw you achieve many great milestones.

Safari Tour, Kenya – PGA Boabab Course, Vipingo Ridge, Kenya. Congratulations to PGA Diploma Graduate, Daniel Nduva who won the Kenya Safari Tour in a three-hole play-off at the PGA Baobab Course Vipingo Ridge, to claim the third leg of the 2022/2023 Safari Tour Golf Series on Wednesday 30 November 2022.
