What can the school and parents expect from your team this year at Interschools?

The boys will empty the tank for the last fixture of the season. They will give 100% passion and commitment to make them proud.

Where is your strength as a team?

Our scrum has been very good this year and our defense has been tenacious at times. We have always given our more fancied opponents a tough, physical game.

What is the most difficult part of coaching a school team?

Getting a different group of boys every year and having to start from scratch to build a team. Here in the Western Cape, the fixture list is also relentless, so keeping your best players on the field every week and remaining competitive is tough.

Why in your opinion, does school rugby get more competitive each year?

The passion for rugby in this country is huge and Old Boys seemingly judge their alma mater’s solely on the performance of the 1st rugby team. Full time, professional coaches whose jobs rely on them obtaining rugby results, is probably the main issue though.
