Reddford House The Hills is proud to announce that one of its own educators, Monde Msutwana, has been recognised as a contributing composer to Grammy-winning album Alkebulan II by US artist MattB featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which won in the category of Best Global Music Album.

The recognition places Monde among the ranks of internationally acclaimed musicians and composers, a moment he describes as both professionally validating and deeply personal. “Being recognised as a contributing composer on a Grammy-winning album means that all I was doing all those years has paid off,” he said. “Professionally, it elevates my artistry and gives my name and work more clout.”

Monde’s journey to this milestone is one of perseverance, passion, and purpose. His musical path began in high school with a talent show performance of Shaggy’s Summertime. He later rose to national prominence as a finalist in Idols SA in 2012 and went on to work as a performer, producer, composer, and marketing executive in the music industry. His credits include work with some of South Africa’s most celebrated artists, such as Hugh Masekela, Vusi Mahlasela, Lira, and Judith Sephuma. Internationally, he has collaborated with Grammy-winning US artist MattB and contributed to the celebrated South African TV show The River, for which he received a SAFTA award in 2024.

Now, as a dedicated educator at Reddford House The Hills, part of the Inspired Education Group, Monde brings this wealth of experience into the classroom. He mentors students not only in vocal performance and musicality but also in the intricacies of production, composition, and the professional music industry. “I got into teaching to impart my years of experience to young artists who have great ambition but little knowledge. I saw what the youth needed, and I realised that I had it,” he explained.

He leads the school’s Glee Club, which he describes with pride as a group of talented young women whose growth and sound continue to impress him. His hope is to expand the group to include more male vocalists and perform more complex arrangements, possibly even sharing the stage with them in professional performances.

The school community has warmly embraced his achievement. “The students were as happy as I was. The support from my colleagues and the wider Reddford community has made me feel truly at home,” said Monde.

Looking ahead, Monde remains as busy and creative as ever, with several projects in the pipeline, including voice work for Netflix and a growing catalogue of original music. He continues to perform with the Sophiatown Jazz Orchestra and recently took part in Disney’s Lion King anniversary show alongside renowned composer Lebo M.

His message to young aspiring musicians is clear: “The only thing that can stop you from becoming what you want to be is you. Be unique, be resilient, and never stop creating.”

Reddford House The Hills, part of the globally renowned Inspired Education Group, celebrates this incredible achievement as a reflection of the school’s commitment to nurturing both academic and creative excellence. Ravi Nadasen, CEO of Inspired Africa and the Middle East, says, “Monde Msutwana’s journey is a testament to the power of purpose, persistence, and passion – and a reminder that world-class talent can be found, nurtured, and celebrated right here at home.
