Maritzburg College Prize Giving 2022. This morning we celebrated exceptional academic excellence on the Maritzburg College campus at our annual Prize Giving which recognises the achievements of our Form 2 to Form 5 boys. Our Guest of Honour was Mr Mark Jury, OC 1999, and current CEO of SuperSport.  In his address to the boys, Mr Jury thanked the school for the privilege of attending this special event. He reminisced about the memories and traditions of College of his time, highlighting how much these have changed for the boys of today. Mr Jury gave the boys some very sound advice including the following; attitude is everything, be a good human, surround yourself with good people, be yourself – there is place for everyone, stand up for what is right, be brave and call out what is wrong, ask questions – be curious, be kind, be patient, follow your passions and be the best you can be, trust your gut, just do it, don’t wait, and make it count every single day.

A number of prizes for academic excellence were awarded at the event. Special congratulations to the boys who achieved first place in each form; Craig Wilson (Form 2), Salushan Naidoo (Form 3), Jonathan Werth (Form 4) and Declan Pillay (Form 5) In his address College’s Headmaster Mr Chris Luman thanked and acknowledged those senior staff members leaving College; Drikus Hoffman, Graeme Waters, Marie Troveri, Liesl Couperthwaite, Lawrence Masuku and Cindy Sewmungal. College is fully staffed for 2023 with a number of new staff joining the College family next year. Mr Luman also paid tribute to and thanked all the staff of College for their sacrifices and commitment to the education of the boys during the year.  Well done to all our boys on their achievements in what has been a busy and challenging year.
