South African and Continental Record!!! Herman Fourie, Grade 11 learner at Hermanus High School competed in the Just Cube Joburg 2022 competition, hosted by the World Cube Association.

The World Cube Association governs competitions for mechanical puzzles that are operated by twisting groups of pieces, commonly known as ‘twisty puzzles’. The most famous of these puzzles is the Rubik’s Cube, invented by professor Rubik from Hungary. A selection of these puzzles are chosen as official events of the WCA.

Less than 5,8% of the world’s population can solve the basic Rubik’s Cube (3 x 3 blocks per side). Now change the number of blocks to 7 x 7 blocks per side, scramble up the cube and try to solve that? Which is exactly what Herman did, earning him not only first place at the competition, but first in South Africa and Africa, with a new South African and Continental Record! Herman is currently in the Nr 1 position for the Speedcube 7x7x7 division. (Herewith the links with the rankings and records)
