It is not every day that a school can claim to have the “best in the world” walking its hallways, but for El Shaddai Christian School (ESCS), we are celebrating just that. Following the release of the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards for the June and November 2025 exam cycles, ESCS is celebrating a suite of results that
place their students at the top of international education.

Emily de Reuck

The highlight of this year’s results is the prestigious First Place “Top in the World” award, earned not once, but twice. Congratulations to Emily De Reuck for securing the Top in the World position for AS Level Language & Literature in English and Helena De Jongh for achieving a joint Top in the World for AS Level Mathematics.
To put this in perspective, these students outperformed thousands of candidates across 40 countries, proving that ESCS is more than capable of competing on the global stage.

Helena de Jongh

The accolades don’t stop at the global level. Gabriella Stead earned Top in South Africa for her performance in IGCSE Literature in English, making her the highest-achieving student in South Africa for that subject. Additionally, Sven Beyer received a High Achievement award for IGCSE Foreign Language German. Interestingly, German is not officially offered at ESCS, making Sven’s achievement a remarkable testament to his personal dedication

Mr Iain Guthrie, El Shaddai Christian School’s Headmaster and staff have expressed immense pride in these learners, attributing the success to a combination of student grit, parental support, and exceptional staff and level of
teaching. “We celebrate the incredible achievements of our learners, and we are also grateful to our teachers who have prepared these students for the examinations and all the other teachers at ESCS who have inspired them throughout their school pathway.” As these students move forward, they carry with them more than just certificates;
they carry the proof that with the right guidance and hard work, the sky is the limit!
