DHS athletes took to the athletics field last week

Vryheid Relay

After two years, learners could finally find their feet and hit their strides at the not-so-annual-due-to-COVID Vryheid athletics relay.  The excitement was tangible and the red and black army was ready to march forth. It was hot on the track and field; everyone pulled together and made the most of the day and gave grate performances. There was blood sweat and tears!  It was a wonderful event to kick off a year of great sport after a long dry spell.

Athletics Interhouse

Come rain, come shine, a spirit-filled heart and the joy of overcoming barriers will ever live on.  With this thought in mind, we hosted our athletics day on the 4^th February. Not even the clouds in the  sky could stop our athletes from competing.  The competition was stiff and in some cases 1^st and 2^nd spots were divided by a distance of mere centimetres.  A few long standing school records were also missed by a few tenths of a second.  If conditions were a bit less slippery, records would have been tumbling on the track. Thank you to all the staff who were so eager to assist DHS. Well done to all the athletes who took part.  Next on the list of things to conquer for the athletes of DHS is the Endumeni meet, to be held on the 11^th of February.  We wish all the learners that will participate the best of luck.
