Daniëlskuil Combined School are thrilled to announce that Annelle Olyn will be representing Daniëlskuil Combined School and the Northern Cape at the prestigious Sanlam WOW Spelling Festival taking place on 11 October 2025 at Stellenbosch University. Annelle has been competing in the Sanlam WOW Spelling Competition since primary school. For years, she reached the provincial level but never advanced further — until now. This year, she not only claimed 1st place at the District competition, but also achieved 1st place at Provincial level as the Grade 9 English winner.

Her journey is a shining example of perseverance. Even after many years of not succeeding beyond provincial level, she never gave up and remained positive and motivated. Annelle is truly a testament to the Afrikaans saying: “ ’n Aanhouer is ’n wenner”.  This is her final year of eligibility, and we could not be prouder of her achievement. She embodies determination, resilience, and excellence.

We wish her every success as she takes the stage at Stellenbosch!
