Curro Kathu Paints the Town Blue in the Kathu Derby

On 31 July, Curro Kathu hosted Hoërskool Kathu in what proved to be an unforgettable Kathu Derby. The action-packed day saw our learners compete in tennis, netball, hockey, and rugby at Curro Kathu and SIVOS. As always, the rivalry between these two schools was fierce, creating an electric atmosphere and providing spectators with outstanding sporting entertainment throughout the day.
Tennis Dominance
Our tennis players delivered a flawless performance, winning all 8 of their matches and showcasing their skill, determination, and composure under pressure.
Hockey Triumph
The U/19 Warriors continued their excellent form, securing a convincing 3 – 0 victory with a disciplined and clinical performance.
Netball Results
Our netball teams competed with passion and determination:
- U14A lost 6 – 7
- U14B lost 8 – 12
- U16B won 16 – 2
- U16A won 25 – 9
- U19A Crystals won 32 – 13
A special congratulations to our U/19A Crystals, whose dominant display ensured a memorable derby victory.
Rugby Results
The rugby field delivered plenty of excitement and quality rugby:
- U15 Titans won 33 – 19
- U17 Badgers lost 13 – 24
- U19 Ysbere won 54 – 26
The U15 Titans showed great character to secure a valuable win, while our U19 Ysbere produced a commanding performance to finish the day in style with an emphatic victory.
A Derby to Remember
The Kathu Derby once again highlighted the spirit, passion, and pride that make school sport so special. We are incredibly proud of all our players, coaches, and supporters who contributed to a fantastic day of competition and sportsmanship. With impressive performances across all sporting codes, Curro Kathu proudly claimed the bragging rights.
