Crawford International Fundraiser for Durban Child and Youth Care Centre

Crawford International La Lucia Preparatory Grade 5 students hosted a fun and creative fundraiser, “Turn Old Into Gold Fashion Day,” where students from Grade 1 to Grade 7 were requested to make outfits out of recycled materials for them to wear. The goal was to raise money for the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre (formerly Durban Children’s Home), which is an NPO that provides loving care to 74 orphans, destitute and neglected children, and those deemed by the Children’s Court to be at risk. Every students’ creativity shone through as they crafted stylish looks from old clothes and recycled items. The fashion event also featured a fun competition, with winners chosen for the best-dressed boy and girl in each Grade. Incredibly, over R18 000 was raised from this initiative! All proceeds go direct to supporting the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre, to enable them to continue their amazing work. It was an exciting and meaningful day that showed the power of creativity for a good cause! The winners from each grade were as follows:

- Grade 4: Cyan Arum Harper-Frauenstein and Zakir Khan

- Grade 6: Aheli Singh and Jacob Subramoney
- Grade 7: Seiranya Govender and Neraav Singh
- Best dressed teacher: Mrs Jones
