Saturday 25 April 2026 marked a special occasion for Cannons Creek Independent School as they entered the competitive robotics realm. Fourteen Grade 4 and Grade 5 learners participated in the Paarl Robothon, which was hosted at La Rochelle Girls High. With six teams in the mix, the young engineers spent the day tackling three intense rounds of line following challenges. For many of the learners, this was their first time seeing how their code holds up under the pressure of a live competition. Congratulations to all the learners who gained valuable technical experience, and a special shoutout to Shaughan Gay, Viggo Sorensen and Thaakir Parker for winning the ‘Vibe Coders Award’ for being the most spirited team at the event.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better start to our competitive robotics journey. Everyone learnt a ton, played hard, and most importantly, had a blast. It was a perfect warm-up for the World Robotic Olympiad later this year.” – Mr Darren Osborn (Visual Literacy & Coding Teacher).
