Ben Stein: From BSI graduate to Bubble Tea Entrepreneur

It’s not just about the sport at BSI, we instil success traits that will assist our graduates for life.BSI graduate Ben Stein has recently opened the 15th outlet of his burgeoning Bubble Tea empire, Ben’s Bubble Tea, at the iconic Sun City. A testament to his hard work and entrepreneurial skills.

Ben joined our full-time Junior Golf Academy from grade 10 in 2016, matriculating in 2018. The program involves high performance training combined with schooling in our international study centre. Ben started with Cambridge, and moved over to GED in grade 12.Always a unique character, Ben could always be relied upon to dig deep and give his all on the golf course. He also developed valuable traits during his time at BSI such as innovative thinking, strategic planning, adaptability, resilience, perseverance, discipline and determination. These traits will have been instrumental in his business success, driving him to push boundaries and achieve excellence.Congratulations Ben, on your impressive milestone! We’re with you all the way.

 BSI Premier Division 18-hole medal (14 August)

Well done to Sayegh van der Merwe & Gilbert Chalwe, for their joint win in the BSI Premier Division 18-hole medal on Wednesday 14 August, with a 4-over par 76 played on a blustery Royal Johannesburg – East Course. Under extreme windy conditions and a slight chill in the air, it was good to see our two winners hand in respectable scores on ‘The Beast’, despite the weather not helping any golfer. Keep up the hard-work Gilbert and Sayegh, and great to see the perseverance in a tough environment.

BSI Junior Academy 18-hole Medal (16 August)

Congratulations to Connor Olfsen, on his win in the BSI Junior Academy 18-hole medal, with a score of 77 on Royal Johannesburg – East Course on Friday 16 August. Conditions have truly been playing tough this week at our home club, but Connor has shown his fortitude and his win is testament to a young man being able to push through. Well done Connor, it is always great to see your smile on the podium.

Well done to Pieter-Andre van der Merwe, Jarod John and Gilbert Chalwe on their joint winning of the BSI Golf Premier medal with scores of 74, in the 18-hole medal on Friday 16 August, played at Royal Johannesburg – East Course. What a great mix of winners as we have Gilbert who has been showing top form since he has come back from injury, to seasoned student, Pieter-Andre who is coming back strong-to-form and rookie, Jarod who shows that he has what it takes to stand on the podium.
