In a significant development in South African private education, Acudeo Schools is proud to announce its integration into the Core Education family, alongside the Royal Schools group of schools and three other schools (two in Kwazulu Natal and one in Cape Town). This merger marks a new chapter in educational excellence, as demonstrated by the remarkable achievements across our campuses in recent months.
Academic excellence across all campuses At our Kirkney campus, our commitment to academic excellence has been recognised at the Tshwane West District Awards with an outstanding 95.56% pass rate. This achievement
reflects our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of education. The campus has particularly distinguished itself in Information Technology, achieving a remarkable 93.3% pass rate in the 2024 NSC examinations, thanks to the innovative teaching approaches of educators like Ms. Mosa Pelele.
Thornview Primary continues to set new benchmarks, securing first place in the District for Grades 1, 4, and 6, and an impressive fifth place in the overall school ranking in Tshwane West. The campus’s achievements extend beyond traditional academics, with exceptional success in national Olympiads. Their revolutionary approach to education is further strengthened by Principal Mrs. Thilly Radebe’s recent achievement of an Honours degree in Education Management and Leadership from the University of Johannesburg. Innovation and technological leadership
The commitment to technological advancement across our campuses has been exceptional. Thornview’s students have achieved remarkable success in the Coding & Robotics Olympiad, with standout students competing against 4,700 learners nationwide. The school’s participation in Roboticon 2024 at Heartfelt Arena showcased their innovative spirit and STEM capabilities. Our Protea Glen campus has demonstrated exceptional innovation through their participation in the Resolute Roboticon Entrepreneurship Competition. Their Grade 9 team secured first place, winning R30 000 in start-up capital, technological equipment, and various other prizes. The campus is also undergoing exciting developments with the construction of a new high school and renovation of existing facilities.
The Crystal Park campus continues to demonstrate excellence through a determined focus on academic development as Mr. David Rossouw, from the Royal Schools group joins the staff as Principal. The campus has shown particular strength in the promotion of Rugby as a sport. Their commitment to Rugby Development resulted in three learners, as well as their coach, being selected to tour Italy in December 2024. Additionally, the High School Marimba
band qualified to participate at National Level with the competition set to take place in February 2025.
At our Thornview campus, several groundbreaking initiatives have been introduced, including the Six Bricks programme in the Foundation Phase curriculum. This innovative approach uses LEGO® bricks to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and motor skills development. The school’s commitment to holistic education is further demonstrated through their comprehensive Enrichment Period programme, offering activities ranging from coding and robotics to arts and leadership development.
Student success stories
Our schools continue to nurture outstanding individuals who exemplify our values. At
Kirkney, recent matriculant Obatleng Mogapi has set an inspiring example with her exceptional performance in the 2024 National Senior Certificate examinations. Her acceptance into the Mining Engineering programme at the University of the Witwatersrand showcases our students’ readiness for tertiary education and professional success.
At Thornview, the nomination of Kaboentle Peu as Petite Little Miss Empower SA Ambassador 2024 further highlights our students’ leadership capabilities beyond academics. In December, three of our learners at Crystal Park were selected to accompany a rugby tour to Italy with their coach Mr. Botha.
Community engagement and celebration
Our schools maintain strong community ties through various initiatives and celebrations. Thornview’s involvement in Nelson Mandela Day activities, including visits to Noma’s Care Centre for the Aged and environmental sustainability projects, demonstrates our commitment to social responsibility. The campus’s vibrant community spirit was particularly evident in their end-of-year celebrations, including the Colour Run, Ayoba and Kaskar Fun
Day, and meaningful ceremonies like the Padlock Ceremony for Grade 3 and 6 learners.
Looking forward
As Acudeo Schools joins the Core Education family we will continue ensuring the delivery of quality education. With ongoing developments across our campuses, including Protea Glen’s expansion, we are positioned for even greater achievements in the future.
This integration represents more than just an organisational change; but symbolises the creation of a stronger, more dynamic educational institution committed to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. Through our continued focus on academic excellence, technological innovation, and holistic development, we look forward to writing the next chapter in South African private education.
