St Andrew’s School for Girls Head of the Junior School Mrs Bev van Niekerk celebrates an incredible 30 years service with us! Three decades of devotion and dedication to our school and community, with countless special moments with the many students, staff, and parents who have been blessed by her service.Mrs van Niekerk joined St Andrew’s on 01 September 1995, and over the many years with us, she has taken on a wide array of roles, continually growing and thriving to learn more every day for the benefit of our girls, staff, and parents.

She has taught Grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 English, Geography, Science, and History. In 2000, Mrs van Niekerk became Head of Farrar House and was the Housemistress until 2008. In 2008 she was appointed HOD of Intersen Phase, and a few years later in 2011, she was promoted as Deputy Head of Junior School. In 2016 she stepped in as Acting Head of Junior School, and was appointed Head of Junior School officially in 2017. As Head of the Junior School, Mrs van Niekerk plays a key role in leading the phase that bridges Preschool and Senior School. She describes the Junior School as “the filling in the St Andrew’s sandwich”, highlighting its central role in preparing learners for the next stages of their education.

She has contributed significantly to the growth and development of the Junior School and the wider school community during her three decades of service. Mrs van Niekerk introduced and initiated the Eco School Programme in 2006 with Anne Gelling. She holds qualifications of Honours and Masters; and she is currently pursuing her Doctorate – for which we wish her all the very best with the grueling studying!
