Lize Boshoff, a Grade 5 pupil at The Wykeham Collegiate, danced at the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards, which was hosted by MDTC (Midlands Dance Theatre Centre) and took place at the Hilton College Auditorium on 17 November 2024. Lize danced 4 different Level 5 dances, and was awarded Gold, which is the highest award achievable (there is a 7-tier award system, starting with Bronze as the lowest and Gold as the highest). Lize also received the Mignon Furman award, which is a partial scholarship to attend the American Academy of Ballet Summer School 2025 in New York at Purchase College, State University of New York. (Mignon Furman is the founding director of the American Academy of Ballet). The event was judged by Iain McDonald, former Artistic Director of Joburg Ballet.
