Deciding on a career path is one of the most important decisions in a learner’s life. With this in mind, a career and leadership development programme is equipping over 300 learners, within the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality area, with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed career and academic choices. Supported by Zeerust Solar and implemented by the Khenn Institute, this initiative is focused on helping Grade 10 and 11 learners at Mokgakala Secondary School prepare for further education and the world of work, ultimately guiding them toward successful and fulfilling careers.

“We remain committed to uplifting the community by empowering learners with the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed in their future careers. Through this initiative, learners are provided with critical information to help them make well-informed decisions about their academic and career paths. This programme is yet another example of our dedication to supporting education and local development,” stated Qinisani Siveshe, Community Operations Manager for Zeerust Solar.

The programme covers a range of essential topics, including career choices; university options and entrance requirements; backup plans in case university admission is not achieved; study techniques and bursary applications; vision boards for setting future goals; and entrepreneurial paths linked to tertiary qualifications. Furthermore, Zeerust Solar donated 160 copies of ‘Mindset of an A Student’ and over 200 career development workbooks to assist learners in their personal development. A leadership breakfast, held under the theme ‘Am I Ready to Apply for a Bursary?’, was also organised for Grade 11 learners, providing them with key insights and resources for bursary applications. “I have much to say, but I can summarise by expressing our heartfelt thanks to Zeerust Solar for the unwavering support they provide to Mokgakala Secondary School. May God continue to bless you,” expressed Principal of Mokgakala Secondary School. Moreover, the programme has had a positive impact on the local community by creating employment opportunities. with four local, female coaches hired to guide learners through the programme. A local female entrepreneur was also appointed to supply refreshments during the sessions, while a local photography company was used to capture moments from the leadership breakfast event.
