Glasson Osborne (matric 2021) has been selected for the National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF) 2022 Brilliants Programme. Approximately 18 learners in South Africa are chosen for this honour and Glasson is one of only two learners from the Western Cape. The criteria for selection entail achieving the highest average (above 90%) for Mathematics and Physical Sciences in the NSC exam and being a registered first-year student studying science-related (STEM) courses (mainly natural sciences, mathematics, engineering and medicine).

Glasson and his fellow nominees will be honoured at the annual NSTF-South32 Awards Gala Event and are invited on an educational tour. The students will also be introduced to professionals from a variety of fields who will act as role models and the students will be able to learn from their life stories and advice. Furthermore, these students may qualify for bursaries for their studies from the Department of Science and Innovation. Glasson currently studies electrical and electronic engineering with a focus on data engineering at Stellenbosch University.
