A massive congratulations to all of Volksrust High School athletes who competed in the Gert Sibande District Athletics event in Secunda this past Saturday! Facing strong competition from athletes across 27 towns, including Ermelo and Secunda, our team showed outstanding determination and talent.

We are incredibly proud to announce that 5 of our athletes have qualified for the Mpumalanga Provincial Championships on 15 March 2025! To put this into perspective, two age categories are combined as U.15, U.17, and U.19, making this achievement even more remarkable.

• Angela Brefo – Gold in 100m & Bronze in 200m (Girls 15 years)
• Nhlakanipho Ngushane – Gold in High Jump (Boys 17 years)
• Asanda Ngwenya – Silver in 1500m (Boys 15 years)
• Saphira van Aswegen – Bronze in 3000m (Girls 17 years)
• Rita-Marie Steyn – Bronze in 400m (Girls 15 years)
