Founders’ Day 2025 was a truly memorable occasion as we proudly celebrated 153 years of Selborne College — a tribute to our rich heritage, value and traditions that defines us. Selborne College were honoured to welcome Mr Frank Rautenbach (Class of 1990) as our esteemed Guest of Honour at our 153rd Founders’ Day celebration and Thanksgiving Service.

Born and raised in East London, Frank’s journey since his school days has been nothing short of remarkable. He rose to national fame as a television actor in 7de Laan and went on to star in international films such as Faith Like Potatoes, The Bang Bang Club, and Hansie. Over the years, his talents have extended far beyond acting — he has been a professional rugby player in France, a model, screenwriter, musician, janitor, television producer, cab driver, and motivational speaker on global stages for organisations like Compassion and World Vision.
His first book, The Vagabond, was released in 2018 and since returning from a decade in the U.S., Frank has featured in major local and international productions including Warrior (HBO), Unseen (Netflix), Lioness and Summertide. He hosts his own talk show (Hier Sit Die Manne) on VIA. In 2024, he earned a SAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Drama for his role in Lioness Season 2.
