Fish Hoek High School celebrated almost seven decades of education excellence at their. Founders Day on Friday, 1 September, with staff, learners, and past pupils. Founders Day is a significant milestone for the school and was a great opportunity to reflect on
their journey over the past 69 years. Steven Joubert, Principal of Fish Hoek High School, shared some extracts from the 1973 school magazine featuring the newly appointed Principal at the time, Mr Terry Hepworth. “We still hold onto Mr Hepworth’s charge to this day. We live and breathe a culture of involvement at our school. Our learners are involved in service, culture and sport to make friends for life and to take ownership of our school.
Excellence on your doorstep in 1973, and we still aim for excellence in 2023…50 years later!” The Class of ‘73 and others joined a Founders Day Assembly at school. The Dance Studies team and past pupil Amy Tjasink provided entertainment, including an inspirational address by the 1973 Headboy John Blacklaws. There was also sports action, with past pupils competing against the badminton, basketball, hockey, netball, and soccer teams. The school looks forward to celebrating its 70th anniversary next year.
