Reddam House Durbanville celebrates IGCSE excellence as Class of 2025 achieves 309 distinctions. Durbanville, 22 August 2025 – Reddam House Durbanville, part of the prestigious Inspired Education Group, is proud to announce the exceptional results achieved by its Grade 11 students in the Cambridge International IGCSE examinations written in June 2025. A total of 76 students sat for the IGCSE examinations and collectively earned an extraordinary 310 subject distinctions, made up of:
- 135 A* grades (90%–100%)
- 175 A grades (80%–89%)
- 47 students achieved an A aggregate
- 11 students attained an aggregate average above 90%
- The school’s average IGCSE grade was 80%
Additionally, of the 17 subjects written, 10 subjects achieved a grade average of over 80%, with six more recording averages between 70% and 80%.
These outstanding results underscore the school’s commitment to academic excellence. Reddam House Durbanville is one of the few schools in the Western Cape to offer a dual curriculum, giving students the choice between the South African IEB and the Cambridge international pathway.
Top achieving students
The school’s highest achieving student is Sebastian Herbert who achieved 95.1% (A*) aggregate average after Cambridge International reviewed one of his English papers, resulting in an upgraded grade to an A. He also earned a remarkable 100% for Mathematics, underlining his exceptional performance and the academic rigour of the school’s STEM subjects. Sebastian, who is considering either Medicine or a financial degree in Actuarial Science or Economics, is known for his academic brilliance and sharp memory for facts – though, as he humorously admits, he often misplaces everyday items.
Second highest achiever of 2025, Lukholo Mgudlwa, attained an aggregate average of 94.1%. Passionate about Medicine and music, Lukholo, whose name means Faith in isiXhosa, is a well-rounded academic and creative. She is a member of the school’s vocal ensemble and a regular contributor to the House Herald, Reddam House Durbanville’s student newspaper.

Kai Mallela, who an aggregate average of 91.9%, also plans to study Medicine. He has been passionate about music since the age of five, starting with keyboard before switching to guitar and has participated in multiple Eisteddfods, won several trophies, and recently received highest honours for guitar – showcasing his commitment to both artistic and academic excellence.

Janek Rossouw also achieved an aggregate average of 91.9% and plans to pursue Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Asked to share a quote highlighting his academic journey and achievements, Janek cites Richard Feynman: “I would rather have questions that can’t be answered than answers that can’t be questioned”. His favourite subject is Physics, perfectly aligning with his future ambitions.

A-Level success: Early university entry for exceptional candidate:In addition to the IGCSE results, the school celebrates the success of A-Level student Matthew Fortgens, who earned 92% (A*) for Mathematics, 90% (A*) for Chemistry, and 88% (A) for Physics.Matthew completed his A Levels in just six months, enabling him to take up a confirmed place to study Economics at the University of St Gallen in Switzerland starting his international post school educational journey this September.
