Rand Park High School’s annual major production took to the stage during the month of May and had audiences on their feet and applauding for more at the end of each performance. This year’s major production, Summer of Love, was filled to the brim with an entertaining plot, interesting characters, great music and a live band.

Summer of Love is an adaptation of the romantic comedy and hit musical, Grease, and follows the lives of a group of working-class teenagers as they deal with the complexities of peer pressure, friendship, teenage rebellion and love.

The choreography, vocal performances and acting completed the fun, energetic and colourful show. Many of the classic songs from Grease were included as well as other popular modern songs from performers who are well-known to younger audiences.

Rand Park’s school band provided all the music for the production and the backstage crew of learners managed the complex sound and lighting requirements. The major production is a highlight on the school’s cultural calendar and this year’s performance was remarkable.
