At Penryn College, we take immense pride in the accomplishments of our Senior Leaders, and this past term, two of our brightest stars, Neo Morabe and Milan Barnard, have showcased extraordinary talent on both the national and international stages.
- Neo Morabe, a Grade 7 scholar and Senior Leader at Penryn Preparatory, recently represented the school with distinction at the Swimming South Africa Level 2 Championships in Pretoria. Neo made waves by achieving personal bests in all but one of his events and was instrumental in helping his relay team secure three medals: two silver medals and one bronze. His standout performance in the 200m backstroke remains his favourite event, where his skill and determination were on full display.
- In addition to this, Neo went on to represent Mpumalanga at the SA Schools Swimming Championships held from 4 to 8 April. Despite the tough and highly competitive nature of the event, Neo demonstrated resilience and a hunger for growth, gaining invaluable experience and learning opportunities. Although he didn’t reach the finals, his performance reaffirmed his dedication to the sport and his commitment to continuous improvement.
- Meanwhile, Milan Barnard, also a Senior Leader at Penryn Preparatory and an accomplished performer, added another accolade to her growing list of achievements. Milan was awarded the Young Performer’s Award at the National Eisteddfod, a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication to the arts. Milan’s performance in Stargirl, her chosen piece, stood out as one of the highlights of the competition, impressing judges with her emotional depth, vocal skill, and stage presence.
- Both Neo and Milan’s achievements are a true reflection of the values we hold dear at Penryn: leadership, resilience, and a commitment to personal growth. They have proven themselves to be exceptional role models, not only excelling in their chosen fields but also inspiring their peers to strive for excellence. As Senior Leaders, they embody the essence of “Believe, Belong, Become” — an ethos that encourages all Penryn scholars to reach their full potential.
We are incredibly proud of both Neo and Milan for their achievements and look forward to seeing where their talents take them next. Their performances serve as a shining example of the Penryn spirit and are an inspiration to all of us.
