A Heartwarming Tribute to the Disney Movies We Grew Up With and Loved. Kingsway High School took audiences on a magical journey down memory lane with its recent musical production, Magic of Walt — a vibrant, heartfelt tribute to the timeless Disney films that have shaped generations. Written and directed by the school’s passionate Drama teacher and Musical Director, Miss Y. Mgwebi, Magic of Walt was more than just a performance — it was a celebration of childhood memories and the power of storytelling through music.
From its premiere for local primary schools to three evening shows from Wednesday to Friday, Magic of Walt captured hearts and stirred nostalgia with every note, dance move, and heartfelt moment. The production followed a family as they tried to decide which beloved Disney movie to watch. As they flipped through choices, each selection sparked vivid memories — beautifully brought to life on stage by the talented student cast, who broke into show-stopping song and dance routines from classics such as The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Frozen, and more. “Magic of Walt was about connecting generations through the stories we all know and love,” said Miss Y. Mgwebi. “I wanted to create a show that not only showcased our students’ talents but also reminded us of the joy and comfort these films brought to our lives.”
Backed by stunning sets, incredible choreography, and iconic musical numbers, the show was a showcase of the school’s commitment to the arts and its thriving performing arts department. It also served as a powerful reminder of the unifying power of storytelling — how certain songs and scenes can instantly transport us to childhood moments filled with wonder. The show’s success marks another high point for Kingsway High School’s cultural calendar and sets a new standard for future productions.
