Restoring Dignity, One Girl at a Time
In a world where small acts of kindness create ripples of change, one young learner has demonstrated the true power of community and compassion. Kimaya Pillay, a Grade 12 learner at Creston College, took on a deeply personal mission—to restore the dignity of young girls in need. With unwavering determination, she raised over R12,000 from family and friends, ensuring that no girl would have to miss school due to a lack of sanitary products.

Recognising the importance of sustainability and health, Kimaya chose to invest in Dignity Organic Sanitary products.  She extended her impact by donating these essential products to the Eaglecrest Creston College Interact Club, which will further distribute them to community beneficiaries in need.

The official handover of these sanitary products was a momentous occasion, celebrated in the presence of key school leaders, including Mr. Noel Coetzee (Executive Head), Mr. Siyabonga Dzingwa (Head of School), Mrs. Shabhana Bhagwandeen (Head of Academics), and Ms. Lerato Msiwa (Cultural Liaison). Fellow Interact Club members also gathered to mark this incredible milestone, standing in solidarity with Kimaya’s vision.

Kimaya’s efforts serve as a powerful reminder that one person’s initiative can transform lives. By mobilising her community, she has not only provided essential resources but has also inspired others to take action in the fight for dignity.

As we celebrate Kimaya’s achievement, we are reminded of the African proverb: “It takes a village to raise a child.” In this case, it also takes a child to uplift a village.
