On Wednesday, 12 January, the school opened its doors for 2022.  College pupils attended an assembly where Mr Bell (School Principal) addressed the pupils. During Mr Bell’s address, he discussed the various aspects of life and annual growth.  “If you cut a tree, it is very easy to see the history of the tree’s life,” said Mr Bell.  “Each year, a new ring is added to the tree, representing how the tree has fared during the year.”

“Some years show tremendous growth, with thick rings, indicating a successful year of water and fair climate,” Mr Bell continued.  “Other years, the ring is thin, indicating struggle.  This is much like our lives; some years we prosper, and other years are hard.  Setting goals for the year and revisiting these goals during the year, is a good way to ensure that your growth ring is thick and prosperous,” he concluded. Following Mr Bell’s address, the Grade 12 pupils received their Matric scarves (girls) and ties (boys).

Assembly ended with the traditional bell ringing ceremony for our Grade 7 pupils, as well as all new pupils to the school.  The bell is rung twice in a pupil’s schooling career.  Once to mark their entry into the College, and again when they leave the school at the end of their Matric year.
