Brackenfell High School learners participated at the EGD skills competition

The Department of Basic Education, together with SASOL and Kagiso Trust, is hosting the annual Engineering Graphic Design skills competition in October.
In the lead up to this event, students from various districts attended the Provincial competition where a team was chosen to represent the Province at the national competition.
On Saturday, 30th of August, Brackenfell High School’s EGD students participated in an Engineering Graphic Design Skills competition. The competition was tough and student’s skills were tested against the clock.
Chantal Van Wyngaardt, Luke Collins, Hugo Taljaard and Joy Kabangu competed in the Drawing Instruments section where Luke was placed 3rd.
Wessel Esterhuisen, Jared Thompson, Anike Rix, Connor Coleman and Caiden Coleman competed in the Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) where Jared was placed 2nd and Connor was placed 3rd.
The top 2 candidates of each category will represent the Western Cape in the National Competition.Jared Thompson and Luke Collins will go forward to the National Competition which will be hosted in Johannesburg in October.
What makes this even more special is that our EGD teacher, me. Hefer, also took part and she will be joining Jared at Nationals!We are very proud of our EGD team and me. Hefer. Our learners (and teacher) not only portrayed amazing skills, but also beautiful values and determination.Good luck for the finals.
