Acer is joining forces with Curro, the leading independent school network in South Africa, to host the year’s first Curro Crash LAN (24-25 March) at Curro Krugersdorp High School in Gauteng. During this Esports event, learners from 13 to 18 years of age will have fun and compete in popular games Minecraft Education Capture the Flag, Dota 2, Overwatch 2 and Rocket League. At the LAN, players can win among 60 prizes sponsored by Acer, such as Mousepads, Caps, Stationery sets and more. Acer also sponsors the ACGL licence and maintains Curro’s Esports servers used during the event and ongoing online platform that keeps players safe—forming part of the Acer for Education initiative.

“Competitive video games are very exciting and the amazingly talented players always bring their best. ESports provides a great platform to combine gaming with education and personal development, which is why Acer has partnered with Curro Schools. We see Esports as a great way to bring entertainment, technology and education together, and we look forward to the LAN, not to mention all the other Esports events Curro has planned for 2023,” says Glenn du Toit, Country Manager at Acer Africa. The Curro Crash LAN is a professionally organised and endorsed event that operates under an ACGL licence.

“Curro has held several inter-Curro eSports tournaments over the last few years. We want to share our phenomenal experience with fellow schools in the community, as only then will we be able to collectively build a unified Esports in Education offering. With the partnership between Curro Esports and Acer, we aim to bring Esports to a new level for all schools in South Africa,” says Magdeleen de Kock, Curro’s Digital Transformation Facilitator: eSports project lead. Whether competing or joining the audience, prepare for an action-packed two days of Esports gaming. On 24 and 25 March, watch South Africa’s next generation of gaming athletes compete for top prizes and more opportunities, sponsored by Acer for Education.
