Dundee High School says goodbye to a few legends

Dundee High School would like to take a moment to say goodbye to a few legends before the 2022 academic year officially starts.  Late last year, we said goodbye to Mr van Schalkwyk who moved back to Namibia to enjoy his retirement years there.  We also had the difficult task of saying goodbye to Miss van Eeden, Miss Bondesio and Mrs Arndt.  We would like to wish them well in their future adventures.

She was a hockey coach, GRED, LO en Arts and Culture teacher and her tough-no-nonsense outlook on life and teaching ensured many successful lessons.  We will miss this odd sock wearing teacher who explained that she never wore matching socks as a reminder that EVERY LEARNER IS DIFFERENT.  This is a fact that will resonate with many of us.  Different learners need different approaches and some require a little more patience.

We would like to wish Miss van Eeden / Mrs Muller many happy years in the future.  She will be remembered and missed by the DHS family for many years.

Mej van Eeden Congratulations on becoming Mrs Muller – wishing you joy and happiness.

Miss Bondesio (TOURISM)

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to one of the most charismatic teachers that we have had in a while.  Miss Bondesio has accepted a post in Pretoria to be closer to home and we would like to wish her well in the future.

She joined the DHS family in 2015 and her main subject was Tourism but she also taught CAT at GET level as well as Arts and Culture and LO.  Her heart is in teaching and she has a very special connection with every single learner that crosses her path.  Somehow, the ones who need support the most – always find her.  She made massive contributions in her role as girls’ soccer coach and she could always be seen lending a helping hand at EVERY single event hosted by DHS.  Her warm smile, witty remarks and contagious passion for teaching will leave a huge hole in the corridors of our hearts.  May her future years include many heartfelt smiles and boundless success.

Miss Bondesio: Best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book

Mev Arndt (AFRIKAANS EAT)

Mrs Arndt: May you be proud of the work you have done, the person you are and the difference you have made
