As the dust settles from the June holidays, anticipation builds for one of Pretoria’s most thrilling rugby derbies: Waterkloof versus Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool (Affies). This storied rivalry, which began in 1987, has seen 46 fierce battles with Affies claiming 36 victories and Waterkloof securing 10. Remarkably, there have been no draws, but with both teams evenly matched this season, could this encounter mark a historic first?

Last 10 Scores:

Affies 2024 Season: Affies have showcased their formidable prowess this year, triumphing in 9 of their 12 games. Their only defeats came narrowly against rugby giants Paul Roos, Paarl Gym, and Grey College. Their resilience was evident in their latest nail-biting victory over Maritzburg College away from home. Highlights of their season include memorable wins against Garsfontein and Paarl Boys High, reinforcing their reputation as a powerhouse in schoolboy rugby.

Waterkloof 2024 Season: Waterkloof, on the other hand, is enjoying a remarkable run, having played 15 games with 13 wins and one draw. Their only setback came against the top-ranked Paul Roos during the Noord vs Suid festival. They showcased their tenacity by drawing with EG Jansen in the Noordvaal Cup after an earlier victory against the same team. Waterkloof’s stellar performances this season sets the stage for an exhilarating showdown against Affies.

Will Affies extend their dominance, or will Waterkloof’s exceptional form this season tilt the scales in their favor? With both teams showcasing skill, determination, and a fierce competitive spirit throughout the season thus far, this match promises to be an epic battle, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. Prepare for a derby that will echo through the annals of Pretoria’s rugby history! Catch all the action live on SuperSport channel 205. Kickoff is at 13h30.
