On Thursday 26 May, Johannesburg’s oldest girls’ school, St Mary’s School, Waverley, celebrated its 134^th  birthday. The day’s festivities began with the school celebrating the Patronal Eucharist. The Eucharist was followed by a picnic at which the matric girls braaied Pregos and hamburgers. The birthday cake was cut with great ceremony and the school’s well-loved, traditional war cry Oh When the Saints was sung.
